Top contributor and pilot Enrico Pescantini created this stunning drone video of some important Roman ruins in northern Italy. The Grottoes of Catullus are the remains of a Roman villa which was located on Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. The ruins are situated at the tip of the Sirmione Peninsula at the southern end of the lake, which is part of the region of Lombardy. The Grottoes of Catallus appeared as a filming location for the 2017 movie Call Me by Your Name, which received four Oscar nominations.

Description: In the Renaissance “grotto” was the name given to collapsed buildings covered with vegetation: Grotto of Catullo are indeed the ruins of the largest roman villa in the north of Italy, built over 2000 years ago by the Catullo family, the famous Latin poet. The villa is places on the shores of Lake of Garda, where the clearness and color of the waters makes it look like a tropical paradise.
